Contests and Fun Stuff

KJ Howe just made the final four of the American Title III contest! Fashioned after American Idol, the American Title contest focuses instead on novels by unpublished authors. I had the honor of hearing Kim (KJ) read from her book when I was at the SHU residency a few weeks ago, and I loved it. If you want to read an excerpt or learn more about the contest, visit their site, and please, vote for Kim! It’s as easy as sending an email to webmaster@romantictimes.com with ONE SHOT, TWO KILLS in the subject line. The deadline for this round is February 4, 2007.

In the March issue of Starlog, Chris Carey was interviewed about editing the previously unpublished writings of Philip Jose Farmer for the magazine Farmerphile and about Myths for the Modern Age: Philip Jose Farmer’s Wold Newton Universe.

Writer’s Digest Books released a new edition of On Writing Horror: A Handbook by the Horror Writers Association in November 2006. If you write horror, check it out. SHU faculty member Mike Arnzen contributed to this edition. Mike is also the featured poet in Doorway Magazine next month.

Dana Marton’s latest book, Undercover Sheik, was released by Harlequin Intrigue in December. The sheik insisted he had to keep Sadie close for her own safety – but just how safe was it within his arms?
