Contests and Fun Stuff

To celebrate making the final four of the American Title III contest, KJ “Kim” Howe is holding a really fun “kill me off” contest. She explains it in detail on the Drunk Writer Talk blog.

Odyssey has announced their summer 2007 fantasy writing workshop.

Heidi Ruby Miller (who recently appeared on Who Wants to be a Millionaire!) will blog about a different author giveaway or contest every day. Check out her site to find out about the latest free stuff you can win from your favorite authors.

Upcoming and Newly Released Books

Check out Nalo Hopkinson’s latest contemporary fantasy novel, The New Moon’s Arms, coming out at the end of February. It has a really interesting premise: a menopausal woman finds something that’s been lost each time she has a hot flash. The first chapter of The New Moon’s Arms is available to read online.

Poison Study by Maria Snyder was released in November in Germany as “Yelena und die Magierin des SÃ?dens”, which translates to Yelena and the Sorceress of the South. Poison Study is also being re-released by Mira in March, in case you missed it the first time, and Maria is giving away signed ARCs of Poison Study on her website. Scroll down and look for “Referral Program!” Poison Study is a fantasy novel about a woman who faces a choice between execution or becoming the Commander’s food taster.

You can buy a copy of Timons Esaias’ poetry chapbook, The Influence of Pigeons on Architecture, through his website. For a preview of what kind of literary expertise you’ll find in his chapbook, read Dispositions which was recently published in the New Orleans Review.

Shelley Bates’ 2005 RITA winner, Grounds To Believe, will be reissued in mass market size in February. This is the first of a trilogy of inspirational romance novels. The second and third books, Pocketful of Pearls and A Sounding Brass, are also available.
